Authorities are investigating a pair of shootings that occurred just over an hour apart late Tuesday night in Woodland and early Wednesday morning in Knights Landing, the latter incident leaving two teens injured.

So far, it’s unclear whether the two incidents are related, investigators say.

Woodland police Sgt. Tom Davis said officers were dispatched at about 10:50 p.m. Tuesday to reports of two shots fired in the first block of Yolano Drive, where witnesses reported seeing a dark-colored Nissan Altima leave the scene. Occupants of the car reportedly exchanged gang slurs with with four people chasing the car on foot.

Police recovered a single expended shell casing in the street but found no people injured or property damaged by gunfire, Davis said. The people chasing the car were described as being in their late teens — two Hispanic, one white and one of unknown race.

The Yolo County Sheriff’s Department is seeking the suspects in a second shooting reported shortly after midnight Wednesday in the 9000 block of Locust Street in Knights Landing.

Sgt. Matt Davis said deputies who responded to the scene found two teen victims with gunfire injuries; they were taken to a local hospital for treatment. Witnesses reported multiple assailants being involved in the shooting, which Davis said is not believed to be a random act.

Both incidents are being investigated by the Yolo County Gang Task Force. Anyone with information is urged to contact Sheriff’s Office dispatch at 530-666-8282 or leave an anonymous tip at 530-668-5248.
