A Sacramento man was convicted Monday of forcible rape, forcible oral copulation, violations of restraining orders, domestic violence, resisting arrest and enhancements for a forcible sex crime occurring during a burglary and aggravated kidnapping in West Sacramento.

Marcelus Coleman, 30, faces life in prison at his May 22 sentencing before Yolo Superior Court Judge David Reed, Yolo County District Attorney Jeff Reisig announced.

Prosecutors said Coleman arrived at the victim’s home at midnight Jan. 11 in violation of two restraining orders. When allowed inside by one of the victim’s children, Coleman went into the victim’s bedroom and forcibly sexually assaulted her while her 2-year-old child was asleep in the same bed.

When the victim escaped the bedroom, Coleman pushed her back into the bedroom in front of her 12-year-old child and then raped her.

“The victim demonstrated incredible courage by coming forward and testifying truthfully to the horrific things the defendant did to her over their 10-year relationship,” prosecuting attorney Jennifer McHugh said.
