Fire and smoke damage displaced a woman from her South Davis apartment Monday night, according to the Davis Fire Department.
Officials say they are still investigating the cause of the first-alarm fire, which was reported at 11:17 p.m. at the Becerra Plaza Apartments, 326 Becerra Way. The woman had escaped from the apartment by the time fire crews arrived on scene, where they found smoke and flames pouring from the rear of the building.
Firefighters were able to quickly extinguish the blaze, cutting a hole in the roof to ventilate the unit and inspecting neighboring apartments to ensure the fire hadn’t spread. One neighboring apartment sustained minor damage from the inspection, officials said.
No injuries were reported. The American Red Cross is providing housing assistance while the damaged apartments are being repaired.
