Davis police arrested a so-called “porch pirate” after an alert resident allegedly caught him stealing a neighbor’s booty.
Lt. Tom Waltz said officers were summoned at about 3 p.m. Saturday to the Drexel Drive area, where the resident reported confronting two men suspected of stealing packages from neighborhood porches. The men fled, but police spotted them at a nearby park.
One, 23-year-old Alexander Ronald Baker of Woodland, was found in possession of property that had been delivered to another person via package earlier in the day, according to Waltz. Baker was lodged at the Yolo County Jail on suspicion of petty theft and receiving stolen property.
The second man was released, Waltz said.
