A Fairfield man is facing battery and hate-crime charges following an altercation in downtown Davis early Saturday morning, police said.
Nathaniel Neal Rogers, 21, “pushed an Asian male and then told him to go back to his country,” Police Chief Darren Pytel said of the incident, which occurred at about 2:10 a.m. in the area of Third and G streets.
Pytel said the alleged victim, a 26-year-old Sacramento resident, was not injured and did not want to press charges, but the incident was witnessed by a Davis police sergeant who took Rogers into custody.
Rogers, who according to Pytel is an active-duty Air Force airman stationed at Travis Air Force Base, was lodged at the Yolo County Jail following his arrest.
