Davis police arrested a Covina man Tuesday after he allegedly brandished a dagger and a fencing sword at a Nugget Market security guard.
Paul Clarence Monson Bennett, 57, allegedly confronted and threatened the guard in front of the 409 Mace Blvd. store at about 4 p.m. Tuesday while armed with the dagger, Lt. Tom Waltz said.
“The suspect also spat at the guard and hit his patrol car with a fencing sword,” Waltz said. Bennett briefly entered the store and was ordered to leave, allegedly swinging the dagger at the guard and a loss-prevention agent, and using a racial slur toward the guard as he left.
Officers arrested him a short time later and booked him into the Yolo County Jail, Waltz said.
