An Esparto woman died and her two young children were critically injured Wednesday when their van collided with a truck on Highway 16 west of Woodland, according to the California Highway Patrol.
Olga Morales, 30, was at the wheel of a westbound Toyota Sienna van that for unknown reasons drifted into the eastbound lane near County Road 97 and collided with a Chevy Silverado truck at about 4:50 p.m.
Morales was transported to Woodland Memorial Hospital, where she died from her injuries, the CHP reported. Her two children, a boy and a girl who are both age 2, were taken by helicopter to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento with major injuries.
The driver of the Chevy, 69-year-old Rosemary Terrill of Woodland, sustained minor injuries in the crash. Neither alcohol nor drugs are suspected as causes of the collision.
