A teacher at a Woodland child-care facility was booked on misdemeanor child abuse charges last week in connection with an incident that occurred earlier this year, police said.
Amy Rozanne Montoya, 45, turned herself in for booking last Tuesday, Woodland police Sgt. Brett Hancock said.
According to Hancock, officers received a report on March 31 of a 4-year-old girl being physically abused twice while attending her day-care center in the 1200 block of Cottonwood Street.
An investigation by police and Child Protective Services was forwarded to the Yolo County District Attorney’s Office, which filed the misdemeanor charge earlier this month, Hancock said. Montoya is scheduled to be arraigned in Yolo Superior Court at a later date.
