A 28-year-old Vacaville man lost his life Thursday morning, the result of a collision on Highway 50 in West Sacramento.
The California Highway Patrol reported that the victim was riding a motorcycle eastbound in the center median, passing slower-moving traffic, when for unknown reasons he struck the median’s concrete barrier and was thrown from his bike shortly after 8 a.m.
He landed in the freeway’s fast lane, where he was struck by a Toyota Camry whose driver was unable to avoid the collision, according to the CHP. He succumbed to his injuries after being transported to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
The man’s name had not been released as of Thursday evening pending notification of his family.
