Davis police reported Wednesday the discovery of a card-skimming device Monday on the ATM of River City Bank, 239 E St. in downtown Davis.
Skimmers are small devices that can scan and store credit card data from the magnetic strip and can be used to manufacture counterfeit cards.
Police advise that, when using an ATM, bank customers should be aware of their surroundings to protect their PIN and be suspicious of any loose, crooked or damaged machines.
“If you notice anything suspicious, report it immediately to the Police Department at 530-747-5400,” a news release said.
