WOODLAND — A Davis man accused of violating his probation in a hit-and-run case is now wanted on a pair of warrants after failing to show up to court Monday morning.
Brian Douglas Cassidy, 59, was due in Yolo Superior Court Judge David Reed’s courtroom at 9 a.m. to face allegations that probation officers found him in possession of heroin last month during a routine search at his Rancho Yolo residence.
When Cassidy hadn’t shown up by the time Reed called his case at 10:30 a.m., the judge issued two arrest warrants — a felony $50,000 warrant for the alleged probation violation, plus a misdemeanor $10,000 warrant for the newer drug case.
At the time of his April 21 arrest, Cassidy was nine months into his probation term for a hit-and-run conviction. It stemmed from a Dec. 17, 2014, alcohol-related crash on Chiles Road in which Cassidy’s drifted into the oncoming lane and struck motorcyclist Nikolas Kostelny head-on, then fled the scene.
Kostelny, of Davis, was badly injured in the collision but survived. Police arrested Cassidy the following month.
Cassidy pleaded no contest to all of the charges in his case in July. In addition to probation, he received a five-year, eight month suspended prison term that could be reinstated as a result of the alleged probation violation.
