A single-vehicle crash in Davis left the vehicle on its roof, but the driver escaped with just minor injuries, according to the California Highway Patrol.
The crash on County Road 32B near the Yolo Causeway occurred at about 7:40 p.m. Wednesday when the westbound driver drifted off the right side of the road, then overcorrected to the left, causing the rollover, Officer Eduardo Garcia said.
Multiple fire engines and CHP and Davis police units responded to the scene, where firefighters had to extricate the man from the crushed Ford pickup cab before he was transported to the UC Davis Medical Center in Sacramento.
“It just looked like he had some scrapes on his arms,” Garcia said at the scene. He added that alcohol is suspected as a factor in the crash, which remains under investigation.
The driver’s name was not available Wednesday night or on Thursday, when the CHP was closed for the César Chávez state holiday.
