Yolo County coroner’s officials have identified the two motorists who died in a wrong-way collision on Interstate 5 in Zamora last Tuesday.
Jose Luis Morales Montiel, 29, of El Nido, was traveling northbound in the southbound lane and struck a Ford F-150 whose driver apparently did not see the oncoming car in time to avoid a collision, the California Highway Patrol reported.
The Ford truck, driven by 30-year-old Joseph William Brendle of Hollister, caught fire after the 11:30 p.m. crash, and both drivers were pronounced dead at the scene.
The crash remains under investigation.
