The Yolo County Sheriff’s Office is investigating its second suspicious death in four days following the discovery of a body near West Sacramento on Tuesday.
Officers were dispatched to the bypass area east of the Yolo Causeway shortly after 8:15 a.m. after a passerby discovered the body, authorities said. No additional details were released as of that afternoon.
Meanwhile, a homicide victim whose body was found Saturday morning near a Clarksburg-area slough has been identified as Andrew Phaouthoum, 21, of Sacramento.
Phaouthoum died of a gunshot wound to the head, Yolo County Chief Deputy Coroner Gina Moya said Tuesday. It was not immediately clear how long he had been dead before a fisherman found him at about 11:30 a.m. Saturday near Jefferson Boulevard and Courtland Road.
The investigation is ongoing, and anyone with information is asked to call the Yolo County Sheriff’s Department at 530-668-5280.
