A Davis man is facing drunken-driving charges after crashing his car into the PG&E yard at Fourth and L streets in Davis early Saturday morning, Davis police reported. This was one of five DUI arrests between Friday night and Saturday morning, police said. (The Enterprise reports only DUIs that result in property damage or injury.)

Benjamin Lyon, 32, was traveling eastbound on Fourth Street at a high rate of speed and failed to make the turn onto L Street, causing his car to crash into the fence at the L Street entrance to PG&E’s equipment yard, according to Davis police Sgt. Dan Powell.

When officers arrived on the scene, they found the car unoccupied. Witnesses said Lyon left the car when he saw patrol lights.

Lyon was later found in South Davis and arrested for DUI. Powell said police will ask the District Attorney’s office to charge Lyon with hit-and-run as well.

PG&E has not yet provided a damage estimate.
